If the defendants intended to murder and/or maim, law enforcement officials are to be commended for apprehending the defendants mid-plot, especially after coordinated acts toward the intended crimes. If the defendants intended to murder and/or maim because of madness at the intersection of cartoons and superstition, removing their stunted synapses from our streets is a particularly commendable accomplishment.

Without more information, I do not understand the reason for labeling these defendants terrorists; the precipitate and target seem to have been narrowly identified.

Would a prosecution press release label as terrorists the participants in an anti-abortion-related shooting-or-bombing plot; a group planning to damage property because of extreme environment-related views; someone who planned to kill executives of a company because of a perceived wrongs related to a business transaction; company executives conspiring to hurt or kill union organizers in another country; an archbishop who provides aid and comfort to killers of homosexuals; protestors planning to disrupt a G-20 or similar summit; or security contractors accused of firing indiscriminately into civilian crowds overseas on more than one occasion?

I do not have answers or adequate information to find answers, but the questions seem worthwhile.
