What’s the big deal? I had a lovely plate of “guanciale di asino” (sp?) on my last trip to the Piedmonts — I didn’t bother to translate for the teenagers along with us that we were eating ass cheeks.

To be fair, I wouldn’t have told them we were eating any part of a donkey, nor the cheeks of any 4-legged critter.

I met Steve Landsburg at a party and after we talked a bit, he excused himself to answer his cell-phone. When he came back, he said, “That was my daughter. She was angry because her soccer team is going to be sponsored by a gynecological clinic and she has to wear a jersey with the name of the clinic on the back.”

I said, “Tell her it could be worse. The clinic could have picked the mascot.”

He didn’t think that was at all funny, so I just assumed he had no sense of humor. I guess I was wrong.

There is actually a clothing brand that goes by the name of “The Lifted Research Group” that markets itself to “urban youths”; it’s become decently popular as street-wear clothing. When I saw the title of this post, I thought perhaps you might have stumbled onto viral marketing ploy by them towards their targeted demographic or something.
