I’m sure you know Adam Sandler’s “Hanukkah Song,” but did you remember that he has a Thanksgiving Song too? It’s almost as funny. Here’s a taste of the lyrics — much funnier sung by Sandler than read.
Love to eat turkey
‘Cause it’s good
Love to east turkey
Like a good boy should
‘Cause it’s turkey to eat
So good
Turkey for me
Turkey for you
Let’s eat the turkey
in a big brown shoe
Love to eat the turkey
At the table
I once saw a movie
With Betty Grable
Eat that turkey
All night long
Fifty million Elvis fans
Can’t be wrong
Turkey turkey doo and
Turkey turkeydap
I eat that turkey Then I take a nap
Here’s a performance of it from Saturday Night Live, and a live recording without video.

I can’t claim to be a Sandler fan, but this does provide an opportunity to exploit the wisdom of crowds.
One of Sandler’s lyrics above mentions Betty Grable. Years ago, I was driving through NYC and heard a jazz station DJ reading the lyrics of a song (not the Turkey song) in which the singer compared his love interest to Betty Grable. It was mesmerizing, but I never got the title. Any jazz fans out there who could help me out? Thanks.

I’m more than a bit distressed by the use of the word “almost” above, as if all of Sandler’s various works — whether lyrical, comedic, or dramatic — aren’t equally superior to the rest of what passes for culture nowadays. It’s like saying that one of Da Vinci’s paintings is “almost” as good as another, when in fact both are superior works of art.

Hanukah song is much wittier... The turkey song is deliberately bad and thrown together... phrase about turkey, followed by rhyming nonsequitur. “Turkey turkey doo and Turkey turkeydap....” Really? As Sandler says at the beginning, “I’ve worked all week on my song”

This song would be better if he omitted the “my brother likes to masturbate with baby oil” line — it gets a bit awkward in the car on the ride up to grandma’s when that line comes along.

Ah, but this cannot compare with the triumph of Addams Family Values in the context of The Turkey Song! (Warning: Spoiler Alert!)

I used to think Adam S was funny until I found out he contributed to Rudy Guiliani’s election run.

Anyone here know which country has the highest per-capital turkey consumption (annually)?
Hint: Not the US.
