According to Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, the FY 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act will end restrcitions on the District of Columbia’s ability to implement the medical marijuana initiative passed by District voters several years back. It will be interesting to see how the Justice Department responds.

My guess: For the reason Stephen Colbert doesn’t permit the audience to drown out his climate change presentations with uninformed chatter. Colbert has a doctorate in fine arts*. Lindgren has a doctorate in sociology. Lesser men should shut up and welcome the lessons learned men such as Colbert and Lindgren impart.
P.S. The “exclude” function hasn’t worked since the site switched formats. Anyone have a “trick” to solve this problem?

Also, what is Justice going to say? That they aren’t going to enforce the law (as per Raich)? It is one thing to have some discretion in the case of California, which pretty clearly has the use of the police power to decide what people may or may not do within the bounds of the state (absent that quaint P or I clause). DC doesn’t have that latitude.
