My daughter used to have the same resolution every year. She resolved not to throw rocks at the Loch Ness monster. As far as I know, she achieved 100% compliance, year after year.

I hope we all have a happy and peaceful 2010.

    13. Leo Marvin says:

Thanks and likewise to Orin, EV, the other bloggers and commenters. All the best.

    14. Andrew says:

I endorse what Leo said. See you all next year. (That goes for the fat lady in the bathing suit too.)

    15. Dave N. says:

Happy New Year to all, even those with whom I occassionally disagree.

And I think we all owe Orin a beer.

I too have had success in keeping my resolutions over the years which is to give up throwing stones at whales. I believe mine to be the larger challenge (more opportunities to fall from grace) but both your daughter and I can take pride in our resoluteness.

MERRY NEW YEAR to all at VC!

    17. Avid reader, reluctant poster says:

      And now it’s 2010!

Thank you to all who take the time to blog and post on this site – I’ve learned a lot. I wish you the very best in the next year.

I guess I too owe Orin a small beer.

    18. Pyrrhus says:

And to you and your’s, Orin.

      Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
      Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
      and auld lang syne ?
      CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
      for auld lang syne,
      we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
      for auld lang syne.

      And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
      for auld lang syne.
      CHORUS

We twa hae run about the braes,
      and pu’d the gowans fine ;
      But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot,
      sin auld lang syne.
      CHORUS

We twa hae paidl’d i’ the burn,
      frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
      sin auld lang syne.
      CHORUS

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
      and gie’s a hand o’ thine !
      And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
      for auld lang syne.
      CHORUS

      Noah David Simon: http://xrl.us/DhimmiNewYear Everyone!

I’m no fan of CAIR, but if there’s anything objectionable about that PSA, I’m missing it. More to the point, I don’t get what it or your reference to “dhimmis” has to do with this post.

    25. JayJay says:

I want to thank all here for their tolerance of me the past year and mostly polite debates. Through all of you I have learned a great deal. Not always agreed but still gave me another viewpoint. I hope all have a wonderful 2010.
