I’ll be part of a lunchtime program tomorrow at the Heritage Foundation in DC on “Protecting Consumers in the Financial Marketplace: Thinking Outside the Boxes.”  Program and registration info is here.  I’m looking forward to hearing New Jersey Congressman Scott Garrett who is also on the program and is very knowledgeable about financial reform issues.

      From the program:

Do consumers need a new regulatory agency to protect them in the financial marketplace? The question has been at the center of the ongoing congressional debate over financial services reform. But is such an agency really necessary? Or will it do more harm than good?

Is there any way to get a bet down on what answers will be forthcoming?

The old copy editor in me noticed that the headline wastes words. When the subject of a program is “protecting consumers,” it is obvious the sponsor is the Heritage Foundation.

I’ll pay attention when they learn to think outside the box of cliche titles.

Here’s my question to you: When you post things like this, do you actually believe that the Heritage Foundation does anything to protect consumers? Or do you realize that this is just perverse spin and look the other way because, you know, a gig is a gig.

And, while you’re over at the Heritage Foundation, will you be assisting with their astroturfing efforts related to the Tea Party Express?
