Latest (?) News on Wisconsin Supreme Court Race — Prosser Apparently Has Slim Lead

Of course, who knows what the ultimate outcome would be, but lots of people seem interested in the race, so I thought I’d note the latest item. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel (labeled 2:18 pm, presumably Central time), an adjustment in the Winnebago County reports “give[s] Prosser 244 more votes, or a 40-vote lead statewide.” Yow. Thanks to Daniel Chapman for the pointer.

UPDATE: The Journal-Sentinel now reports (5:11 pm Central), “In a political bombshell, the clerk in a Republican stronghold is set to release new vote totals giving 7,500 votes in the state Supreme Court race back toward Justice David Prosser, swinging the race significantly in his favor.” Of course, the question is what some other clerk will report tomorrow? And of course the question is also why such squeaker stories interest us; why don’t we just wait for a couple of weeks until the dust clears? Don’t know, but I can’t deny the appeal. Thanks to Anthony Sanders for the pointer.
