Seriously though, are we living in an age of paranoia? As someone who doesn't find either the Federalist Society or the ACLU to be particularly ominous I don't really understand the antipathy they generate in some circles.
Nor was I. I just see their student members and guest speakers around here, which don't seem all that different from any other group that brings in speakers, and I wonder what all the sinister rhetoric is about.
Who leaked?
One reason it may make more sense to "oppose" the ACLU is simply the fact that it litigates and therefore has specific positions to oppose. Though I think that as a practical matter conservatism (and libertarianism) is better served by opposing specific policies and positions than an organization.
