Judiciary Committee To Hold Hearing on Abuse of Executive Power:
Via The Corner:
The House Judiciary Committee has just announced a rare recess hearing, set for next Tuesday, entitled, "RECKLESS JUSTICE: Did the Saturday Night Raid of Congress Trample the Constitution?"
I'm tellin' ya, folks, you just can't make this stuff up.

This will be followed by the "Bank or Freezer: Which Is The More Appropriate Place To Keep Your Money?" hearing.

And one on election law reform, to show Congress' concerns that money should be kept out of politics.

I agree, you can't make this sort of thing up. If this were some pie-in-the-sky witch hunt, then they might have a case here. But, come on, they apparently have Representative Jefferson on video tape taking bribes, and then recovered some $90,000 of the $100,000 in marked bills from his freezer, nicely wrapped in foil to look like left-overs. Congress needs a much better poster-boy if they are going to take a stand on this issue.

The stupidity or incompetence or is it both of the current republican party leadership in congress seems to have no bounds.

They have absolutely no clue just how stupid and incompetent they look, and I'm a republican my entire life. However, if they continue to screw up with federal court nominees and pass an immigration bill that looks even like 25% of the current senate version, I will vote for the anti-christ himself/herself if it would help get these idiots cleaned out of the party.

If I have to watch Lindsey Graham pop out of John McCain's arse one more time, I'm just going to hurl.

I'm mostly abused that this is the abuse of executive power that is worth having a hearing.

Well at least going by the suggested title of the hearing it promises to be level headed and fair, with no foregone conclusions. Right!!
Article 1, Sect 6, written in {surprise} plain English appears pretty clear, although the numbers of those today prepared to muddle it I'm sure are legion. I gather that to follow the Constitution therefore is an abuse of power, allthough by 1:00 PM EST it may, on another issue, have regained it's hallowed and beloved status.
It's fascinating in a macabre sort of way to watch the Republicans destroy themselves, rather like watching a slow motion suicide. At least they could do it in style, but with Hastert, who looks like an unmade bed, they can't even accomplish that.
And yes, let's get the money out of politics! I thought we had already done that with McCain/Finegold but what the hell,we can do it again. I'll get on that bandwagon in a moment but first I have to complete squaring the circle.
