Some news organizations, such as the Calgary Sun, have identified the Canadian gunman at Dawson College in Montreal as Kimveer Gill, age 25. The police have neither confirmed nor denied Gill as the killer. The Sun, on its CNEWS website, published a picture purporting to be Gill in a black trench coat holding a gun, a photo that it had downloaded from the goth website, VampireFreaks.com.
I located the webpage and the member who posted the picture that was fingered by the Sun's sources as the killer. Ominously, the member's name was "fatality666." On fatality666's page are many pictures of a young man from Quebec with a modified mohawk haircut and guns.
His profile reads:
His name is Trench. You will come to know him as the Angel of Death. He is male. He is 25 years of age. He lives in Quebec. He finds that it is an O.K place to live. He is not a people person. He has met a handfull of people in his life who are decent. But he finds the vast majority to be worthless, no good, kniving, betraying, lieing, deceptive, motherfuckers.

In several comments, fatality666 defends his use of the N-word. He is a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies and writes "GO POSTAL" (August 26).usually I have dreams about people being murdered, hung, getting shot in the head, and stuff like that. Sometimes it's me that that stuff is happening to, and it's always dark and cold.

This is a totally generic (and lame) sort of name you are going to see being used by thousands (millions) of high school/college aged males who just want to sound bad ass or cool. It's about as much of a warning flag as hearing some guy call his kid 'killer' while urging him on at baseball ('you can do it killer. go get em').
I'm a little bit unclear why you make a point of noticing the picture was downloaded from vampirefreaks.com. If this was just a sourcing or standard remark that's reasonable but I don't think it would be justified to suggest there is any particular sort of connection to goth culture or assign blame to the website.
Sure the facts that goths are into death related imagery makes it easy to damn them by association but I have no reason to believe they are any more inclined to violence than other misfit subcultures. Members of this group are just more likely to have engaged in activities that look scary and horrific in retrospect. As for the website itself I see no reason why it should question what for all it knows is a lawful gun owner posing with their firearm. Surely the bloggers here would be up in arms if a state tried to ban pictures of people posing with their shotgun.

High school loneliness and harassment has far-reaching effects that don't just disappear magically when we are handed a diploma. Loneliness, despair, hopelessness, apathy... all of those emotions are not confined to the high school environment. They may or may not originate there, but they sure do make it easier to not give a damn about anyone else.
I wonder when more will see... how many more kids will have to die before this society wakes up to the fact that this pain is real and it takes on more forms than we want to admit? How many more shootings will we have to go through?
