This is a great opportunity to show a little hospitality and settle this whole dustup in a friendly fashion. Cheney should just invite Ali Khamenei over for a couple of beers and an afternoon of grouse hunting.
I don’t see why Bush needs to have “anesthesia.” Is he some kind of wimp? Modern endoscopy has greatly reduced the need for the use of sedative. The usual practice is to use Versed (a variant of Valium) mixed with something like Demerol. When I had the procedure done a few years ago I asked them to lighten up on the Versed as I didn’t want my memory of the procedure erased. As a result I got very little or no sedative, and I was fairly conscious during the procedure. I was able to get up almost immediately. I went about my normal business in about 15 minutes. The prep is much worse than the procedure. But I guess we wouldn’t want the president to have to launch missiles while watching a movie of his bowel.

No. This is an example of how precedent can be harmful. The only prior use of this provision before Bush was by Reagan--for, you can guess, the same medical procedure.
This is a classic example of how customs and traditions form.
Seriously, though, it's time someone went to Iran like Nixon went to China. About the only reason I'd like McCain in the White House is he's the only candidate who could reasonably carry that off.
The President is going to have the Navy look for Iran, and if they find it, surgically remove it.
Nah. The President will have the SEALs find the underwater pipelines that Iran uses to pump oil to and gasoline from tankers, after which said pipelines, valves and such, will have "operating problems."
No. But Libby is going to receive a full pardon. And there're will be an executive order issued stating that Adam Clymer is a big time major league a-hole.
You are wrong. We have already done that. Remember SCOTT RITTER said it was going to happen in June of '04 or was it '05??. Is he still the darling of lefty Universities? He was getting standing ovations on his indoctination speaking tours. The esteemed Mr. Wilson shared a stage with him at times.

2) Assuming we don't, why is this news?

The US or the Raiders. If the Raiders, I completely agree.
Not as I recall; isn't House Speaker Nancy Pelosi next in line?
