Some Good News Out of the Palestinian Territories:
The imminent formation of a liberal new party not tied to Hamas or Fatah, with many prominent supporters:
"This movement would be based on liberal ideas and advancing democracy and human rights in the PA," said Zakut. "The idea is to have a pragmatic movement that would support the idea of two states on the basis of the 1967 borders and PLO platform, while resolving the refugee problem in an agreed-upon manner based on the resolutions of the United Nations and Arab League."
Does "resolving the refugee problem in an agreed-upon manner based on the resolutions of the United Nations and Arab League" mean a "right of return" for all Palestinians? If it does, then we have a non-starter here. And is the "PLO platform" the same as their charter document, perhaps as "revised," if in truth it ever was amended?
But I don't know how to do the first (time may tell) or the second.
i.e. the destruction of Israel based on "the right of return"
I suppose that is more liberal than out right warfare. However, is warfare ruled out?
And 1967 borders? Not going to happen.
I do agree that this is a start. If it actually gets started.
