Wind Energy for Thee, But Not for Me:

Wind power is an important source of renewable energy, but in some cases it poses unacceptable risks to local communities (or wilderness) and must be stopped. Jason Jones reports here.

A better case of NIMBY has never been shown. Once again, this demonstrates that people like the idea of renewable energy, but hate actually putting it into practice.

Next thing you know, celebrities and politicians in personal jets are going to be telling me to car pool.

NIMBY is pretty bad.

I like to ask HAYBY. How about your back yard?

As, for instance, the Kennedys and their politicking to keep their views pristine while imposing the things on the rest of us.

Edsall and Edsall, some years ago, wrote a book on liberalism--they were generally for it but understood that the costs imposed on most of the population were bad marketing--noted the phenomenon. Those pushing various solutions have no intention of being inconvenienced by them.

The people pushing the low-income housing in Yonkers 'way back lived in lily-white, sometimes gated, upscale communities. They called the protesting Yonkerites racists.

Same-oh.

The Robert Kennedy article is the worst kind of hypocrisy. He didn't even acknowledge his own personal interest in keeping the compound's view unspoiled. Does he think readers are so clueless they can't see through his pretend-environmentalism?

From Al Gore's gigantic gas bill to those flying in private jets to concerts for the environment, the delusion and hypocrisy of this crowd is stunning.

Here in L. A., the mayor and the city officials have been telling everyone to conserve water. But today's L. A. Times has an article showing that they use much more water than the average homeowners and haven't cut back a bit.

"Only the little people conserve" should be the motto of the pseudo-green.

If wind farms are ugly off Cape Cod, aren't they also ugly along the highway in the San Gorgonio Pass (on the way to Palm Springs) or in the Altamont Pass in the East Bay or near Lancaster, California where a proposed wind farm would be seen from the state poppy preserve and spoil the view out there?

Yeah. They are. Point is, the folks who live there don't get to choose.
Only our masters get to choose.

Anyone remember when Barbra Streisand was the only one to object to an environmental photo survey of the California coastline because she had a house along the coastline?

Just remember: Liberals pick your pockets to pay off their political constituents.

A very funny piece, and one to remember when you hear people say that "The Daily Show" only makes fun of Republicans/conservatives.

There was a candidate for a Minnesota state office, which I think was treasurer, who aired a TV ad in the fall that said "I believe in wind power so much, I put a windmill in my back yard!"

Now, what that has to do with qualifications for being state treasurer... I don't begin to know.

Smirk.

It's kind of like when candidates for random offices pronounce themselves pro-life or pro-choice, even though the offices for which they're running have about as much say over abortion laws as they do on Mongolian foreign relations.

Just remember: Multi-million dollar machines that use wind power to make electricity in the middle of a big open area of ocean - bad. Multi-million dollar machines that use wind power to haul rich people around the same stretch of water - good.

Joseph, no one cares all that much that Stewart's Daily Show makes fun of Republicans/conservatives 80% of the time or more, there are other outlets that do the same and there are other outlets still that make fun of Democrats and the Left most of the time.

Then again and far more telling still, it isn't Republicans/conservatives who have begun to consider how they might resurrect the "Fairness" Doctrine in order to effectively censor and curtail Stewart's Daily Show. To the contrary, it's the Dems and Left who are considering that offensive.
