A Pennsylvania Playoff?

Last night the Philadelphia Flyers finished off the top-seeded Montreal Canadiens. I'm still in shock they did it -- let alone in five games. If the Pittsburgh Penguins can beat the New York Rangers today, we'll have an all Pennsylvania playoff in the Eastern Conference finals.

iwg2--It sure looks that way. But my good friend who is a Redwings nut claims this is not their year. He may just be trying to ward-off Nemesis. But his predictions in hockey have been astoundng in the past.

I'm still in a bit of shock too. As Phil Sheridan writes in the Philadelphia Inquirer: "The Canadiens will wake up this morning and wonder exactly how their off-season got here. They outplayed the Flyers for most of the series and couldn't beat Biron."

It's the same-old, same-old when it comes to hockey. The team with the best regular season record rarely makes it to the Stanley Cup finals. Hockey is the sport where the regular season means the least to what happens in the playoffs. The Flyers have, maybe, finally learned this lesson as well.

I predict a Pittsburgh-Detroit final with Detroit winning in five.
