Favre:

The initial estimate from Football Outsiders is that Favre adds 0.4 expected wins for the Jets this year (from 7.2 to 7.6). Numerous caveats apply.

Hoosier:
That 0.4 expected wins would be funnier if he were a baseball player.

Oops. Almost forgot to add: Let Brady Quinn play!

Should we maybe say, "Leave Brett Alone!"

Or would that be, "Leave Brady Quinn Alone!"

The story on "Baby" Quinn won't be in for a while. A long while if Derrick Anderson continues the way he performed against the Jets Thursday evening.

Farve started every game for 16 years. Put me down for 9-7, with an outside shot at 10=6 and making the playoffs.

I wonder how this group factored in the HUGE downgrade Favre will have in the Offensive Line - Last year, at Green Bay, Favre had the second lowest number of sacks in the NFL at 19. The Jets, on the other hand, allowed 53 sacks, almost three times as many, and second most in the NFL. So what did the Jets do to shore up the line? They got a free agent tackle from the Detroit Lions (a team that gave up 54 sacks, the most in the NFL!). Anyone who remembers the Dallas Game, where Favre was knocked out in the first half, or the NFL Championship game, where the Giants pressured Favre all game and forced several really bad throws, will understand that hard pressure is the one thing that will unhinge Favre. He reverts to his gunslinger self where he throws more bad interceptions than touchdowns. Favre could help a team ONLY if it can give him solid protection -- the Jets just are NOT that team. I see Favre costing the Jets more games than he wins for them, unless the Jets front line really outplays its historical standards.

He's already forced the Jets to offload Chad Pennington. Even if he re-retires tomorrow he'll have been a big plus.

They took Alan Faneca from the Steelers, so I'm more worried about Pittsburgh's O-Line. Of course, the last free agent that I recall the Jets taking from the Steelers was Neil O'Donnell, and we all recall how he led the Jets return to glory.

As a Wisconsinite, I wish Brett success in whatever he does. I am not sorry to see him go. His actions of recent time are very uncharacteristic of him, which may mean he has changed. I agree that he needs a very solid line in front of him to perform as expected. I am certain that the Jets line do not have the same personal interest in protecting Favre as the Packers line did. I am not sure what made him unretire several times, but my personal opinion is that it was a mistake. Time will tell. I hope he is able to walk around and tell about it.

As a Real Wisconsinite, 4 is Favre and Favre is the man. I'm a Packer fan even if we are 0-16 I will hope for a Jet's VS Packer's Superbowl! Why not the Giant won it all last year? Who pick that one over Greenbay and then Pat's to be Superbowl winners? If Favre can bring the Jet's together as Team, lookout!Packer still have Great "D" and Rodger need to prove himself in NFL? ARE WE READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
