Jon Stewart has apologized for what he termed as his "stupid" characterization of President Harry Truman as a war criminal because the US did not explode a demonstration atomic bomb before using one on Hiroshima.
As noted by
Allahpundit, Stewart doesn't explain why his original remark was "stupid"--apart from saying that the decision to use the atom bomb was "complicated"--but this reply to Stewart by Bill Whittle has been making the blogospheric rounds. I post it here because I know there are those who agree with Stewart's original remark about Truman, and this 16 minute video contains considerable information about the use of the atom bomb that I had never heard before.
