Why Jews Should Marry Koreans:

Ilya's serious post gives me an excuse to repeat my unserious question from several years ago: The overseas Chinese are sometimes called "The Jews of the Orient." But what is the common bond between Jews and Koreans?

The answer is:

A poor joke, but mine own.

Bryan Long:
Is this man the most notable individual of Jewish-Korean ancestry in the United States?

Might want to make that "Choseon" in the future; sounds more like the actual hangul (조선) and looks better too. It's also funnier than the modern official romanization of "Joseon".

Thomas Sowell suggested that considering their relative numbers, we should call Jews "The overseas Chinese of the west". They are discussed along with Armenians, Lebanese and others in "Are Jews Generic?", which I provide here.

An old Jewish man ran into one of his friends on the street and exclaimed, "David, David! I have fantastic news. I won the lottery. I won ten million dollars!"

David replied, "Haim, that is fantastic! That is fantastic! What are you going to do?"

"I already did something." answered Haim as he unbuttoned his shirt to reveal a giant tattoo of Hitler on his chest.

David was horrified. "Haim! How could you do this! He's Hitler! He killed our people. What were you thinking?"

Haim then unbuttoned his sleeve and exposed his arm. He pointed at his forearm and said, "Well, I had to do something. Hitler gave me the winning number!"

Israeli is in a small city in China for business reasons, and Yom Kippur falls during his visit. He wants to go to services, so he asks around and is directed to a small temple on a side street. He goes to the service and is quite moved by the experience. He goes up to the rabbi after the service, Rabbi Feng, and says, "Sir, I've been to sevices all over the world and I want you to know that your's was one of the most moving I've attended." Rabbi Feng looks at him closely and says, "Ah, you're Jewish? You don't look Jewish."

This man may be the most notable Jewish-Korean. OK, his non-Korean half is not Jewish by common standards but he is married to a Jewish woman and has long been a citizen of Israel.

For that reason, Jews should marry Scots, who, if not Chosen, were at least Pict.

JB,

That... is classic. As for Eugene, I think this joke shows why the title of the next thread is Old Jews Telling Jokes. Could stand to put a few more miles on those tires before he quits his day job.
