Apropos the “Rice will testify, but only on condition that the commission agrees that it won’t set a precedent” deal, Tom Grey writes (without expressing any opinion on the underlying merits of the executive privilege dispute):
As one of my colleagues [Bill Cohen] says in faculty meetings, whenever this gambit is tried: “This won’t set a precedent — and anyway, we’ve done it before.”
