In short, he argues that even though he is still at heart a left-winger, given the barbarian state of Arab/Palestinian/Muslim culture, it will come down to “them or us,” and he chooses “us,” even if that means tough, even cruel actions by the Israeli government. And, though widely known for his sympathetic work on the Palestinian Nakba in 1948, he believes that Ben-Gurion erred in not expelling all Palestinians from Israel and surrounding areas. A depressing, fascinating, and scary interview.
