Jon Stewart has apologized for what he termed as his “stupid” characterization of President Harry Truman as a war criminal because the US did not explode a demonstration atomic bomb before using one on Hiroshima.

As noted by Allahpundit, Stewart doesn’t explain why his original remark was “stupid”–apart from saying that the decision to use the atom bomb was “complicated”–but this reply to Stewart by Bill Whittle has been making the blogospheric rounds. I post it here because I know there are those who agree with Stewart’s original remark about Truman, and this 16 minute video contains considerable information about the use of the atom bomb that I had never heard before.
