If recent news reports are accurate, Oasis is no longer. Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam have parted ways. While they never quite lived up to their own hype, I liked them quite a bit. Their first three albums were particularly good. Now that they are heading off into the sunset, it seems appropriate to pick one of their songs for a Sunday Song Lyric.
“Wonderwall,” off of their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory, was dubbed 1995’s “song of the year” by the Times of London. It’s a good song, but I always preferred “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” It begins:
Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don`t you know you might find
A better place to play
You said that you`d once never been
All the things that you`ve seen
Will slowly fade awaySo I`ll start the revolution from my bed
Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside the summertime`s in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain`t ever gonna burn my heart out
So Sally can wait, she knows its too late as we`re walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don`t look back in anger I hear you say
