I’m delighted to report that Prof. Jeff Milyo, the Middlebush Chair of Social Science at the University of Missouri and a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, will be guest-blogging for us this coming week, about his Institute for Justice report, Mowing Down the Grass Roots: How Grassroots Lobbying Disclosure Suppresses Political Participation.
Prof. Milyo specializes in empirical studies of political economics, law and economics and health economics; his recent research has examined the efficacy of campaign finance regulations and other electoral reforms, the measurement of media bias, and the causes and consequences of social capital. His Mowing Down the Grass Roots report examines state lobbying regulations that are broad enough to include “grassroots lobbying,” such as holding a political rally or posting yard signs. I much look forward to seeing his posts.
