The L.A. Times reports,
[Gov. Jerry] Brown suggested that it’s ridiculous for opponents of his plan to transfer thousands of felons from state prisons to county jails to lampoon it as the “get a dog, buy a gun” bill. It’s perfectly natural for people to have those items in their homes anyway, he said.
“I’ve got three guns and one dog,” he told the Alliance of California Law Enforcement.
The dog is apparently “not much of a security asset,” but I take it that the guns work just fine. Note that, though Brown backed a “moratorium on the sale of guns” in 1992, in 2009 he filed a brief supporting the incorporation of the Second Amendment against the states and concluding that people have a “constitutional right to possess handguns in their homes.”
