Law Clerks and Facebook

On Thursday morning, I’m going to be speaking on a panel on “Ethical Considerations in the Digital Age” at the Third Circuit’s Judicial Conference. One issue that may come up is the use of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media by judicial law clerks and other court staff. I thought it might helpful to find out if any courts have formal policies on court staff and law clerk use of these services that can be made public in a forum like the panel. If you’re a law clerk or court staff employee governed by such a formal policy, and if it’s okay to make that policy public, I’d appreciate you letting me know. Feel free to e-mail me at okerr (at) law.gwu.edu, or, if you prefer, to leave a comment in the comment thread.
