I felt the ground shake during the recent 5.8-5.9 magnitude quake here in the DC area. But really it seems like much ado about nothing. There is little if any damage and normal business seems to be resuming quickly. The workers who were installing a new AC at my house at the time went right back to work after pausing for a few minutes. Looking around outside, there seems to be no damage to any buildings on our street.
I haven’t had a chance to see all the news reports yet, so it’s possible there’s more serious damage elsewhere. But if Arlington, Virginia (not far from the epicenter) is any indication, that seems unlikely.
