Here is an excellent profile of one of the world’s leading singers. I hadn’t known she got her start singing Gershwin to American serviceman after the war. If you don’t know her incandescent recordings of Brahms, Schubert, Mahler and others, go buy some. Here is a link to a fan site about her.
