While we’re on the subject of great songs popularized by someone other than the composer, I thought it appropriate to post one of my absolute favorites: “Crazy.” This song was one of Patsy Cline‘s greatest hits, but she did not write it. Rather, the lyrics were penned by Willie Nelson. Not being much of a country music fan (Patsy and Hank are exceptions), I’ve always found this a bit surprising. “Crazy” is a great song nonetheless.
Crazy, I’m crazy for feeling so lonely
I’m crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you’d love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you’d leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond’ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I’m crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I’m crazy for loving you.
