Alexander "Sasha" Volokh
My Soviet emigration Silver Anniversary tour
Vienna, Austria, June 13-20, 2000
Above: My first modern experience in Vienna -- I visit a historic Viennese laundromat. My
laundry spins in Imperial style.
Above: Signs pointing out the road to Prague, Brno, and Budapest. Times have changed since
last time I was here.
Above: In 1975, we stayed in the "Pension Bettina," which Viennese telephone information
tells me no longer exists. I find a Bettina, but alas!, the wrong one. This one is ladies'
fashions.
Above: Apparently, McDonald's Quarter Pounders are called "Royals" in Europe, 'cause they're
metric.
Above: I can see a new musical song in the works....
Advance to Rome
