This year’s Wisconsin Supreme Court race between incumbent David Prosser and challenger JoAnn Kloppenburg is reportedly the costliest in the state’s history. With the court’s ideological balance at stake, outside groups poured millions into the race, turning it into a proxy battle over the Governor Walker’s efforts to restrict public employee collective bargaining rights. To hear activists talk about it, at stake in the election is whether the collective bargaining reforms will be struck down in courts — a perception Kloppenburg (and her supporters) did not do much to dispell.
Who will win? It’s too early to tell. You can follow the election results as they come in here. Althouse is also blogging the results here.
UPDATE: As of this morning, Prosser has a slim lead, but it’s still too close to call.
