A panel of former U.S. solicitors general discussed the role of the solicitor general, the duties associated with the job, and arguing before the Supreme Court. The moderator was former Deputy Solicitor General Kenneth Geller. Justice Anthony Kennedy made opening remarks. The 2009 National Heritage Lecture, “The Office of the Solicitor General: A Panel Discussion” was hosted by the Supreme Court Historical Society on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. It was co-sponsored by the Robert H. Jackson Center, the White House Historical Association, and the United States Capitol Historical Society.
